Why the shape matters
What the Ascent does differently
Naturally shaped toe box
Feet are widest at the toes. Most shoes are narrowest there. The Ascent is shaped like the front of a foot, so your toes spread and splay on landing while the midfoot and heel stay secure.
Familiar 10mm drop
The same heel to toe geometry as the daily trainers you already run in. Nothing to relearn, no transition period, no barefoot homework.
Rocker and lightweight foam
A full stack of lightweight foam under a rocker that rolls you from heel to toe. Smooth on easy days, steady on long ones, comfortable standing all day.
Toe room, not a barefoot shoe. 10mm drop, nothing to relearn. If you run in a Ghost, a Clifton or a Nimbus, the only change is room for your toes.
The shoe
What is the Veloci Ascent?
The Ascent is Veloci's neutral daily trainer. It puts a naturally shaped toe box, the shape most people search for as a wide toe box, on a standard D width shoe with a familiar 10mm heel drop, a full stack of lightweight foam and a rocker that rolls you from heel to toe. Shaped like a foot, rides like your trainer.
It is not a barefoot shoe and it is not a wide shoe. If you run in a Ghost, a Clifton or a Nimbus, nothing here needs relearning. The only change is room for your toes to spread and splay on landing. If you want a true 2E, we are not it.
The Ascent is the shoe we start most people in: easy runs, daily mileage, long runs, walking and days on your feet. If your foot rolls inward more than you would like when it lands, look at the Mesa, which shares the Ascent's last and fit and adds the Wingwall Stability System. If you already own an Ascent and want a lighter, faster second pair, the Featherweight keeps the toe box and the drop.
The current version and its specs are below. Every pair ships free, with free 30 day returns and exchanges on an unworn pair. Read how the toe box should fit or neutral vs stability, explained by a fitter before you choose.

Ascent questions, answered
No. The Ascent is a standard D width with a naturally shaped toe box. The room is in the shape of the front of the shoe, not the width of the whole shoe. If you need a true 2E, we are not it.
No. The Ascent is a 10mm drop daily trainer with a full stack of cushion, the same geometry as most traditional trainers. Toe room, not a barefoot shoe. Nothing to relearn.
It fits true to size for most runners. If you are between two sizes, size up. The Ascent and the Mesa are built on the same last, so your size is the same in both, and an exchange between them changes the midsole, not the fit.
Start with the Ascent unless you know your foot rolls inward more than you would like when it lands, or a fitter has told you it does. The Mesa adds the Wingwall Stability System on the same fit.
Yes. Every pair ships free within the United States, and returns and exchanges are free for 30 days from delivery on unworn pairs returned in the original box.
Most running shoes are done somewhere between 300 and 500 miles, which for most of our customers is month five to nine. Your weight, your stride and the surfaces you run on all move that number.
